Keeping it Clean

Updated: May 17, 2024

Almost every other person you meet swears by that they like 'Cleanliness' and cannot tolerate any ounce of grot. Personally, I enjoy listening to such people brag about their obsession for tidiness the way one enjoys listening to someone lying when you know the truth.

I have seen people claiming to be the 'Epitome of Immaculation' live around piles of unwashed, smelly clothes not outside but also inside their cupboards, and then that stink spreads in all the washed clothes which are worn by them(*puke*), just somehow living without cleaning or even dusting their place for days and in some cases even for weeks! wonder how they survive?

But that does not mean that you have to look for dirt in each and every nook and corner to keep your place clean, however, you can still maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the place that you live in by at least cleaning the items that you use on a regular basis.

Here are 5 things that will help you to live out of the dirt.

1. MAKE YOUR BED

Every morning, make it a habit to make your bed and dust it, But it doesn't stop here. Do not treat your bed as a trash can and keep throwing things on it if you don't need it, treat it like a bed and keep only what is meant to be placed on it, pillows and blankets. Always remember to clear out the things that are not meant for it. You will be extremely happy with yourself when you return home after a tiresome day and see your neatly done bed. (*Sound of Applause*)

2. KEEP YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS CLEAN

All the items that are of your personal use, KEEP THEM CLEAN ALL THE TIME! Wash your comb and rubber bands, dust your mirror and always remember to clean your grooming appliances if someone else has used it. This is a part of your hygiene.

3. STOP MAKING PILES OF CLOTHES

I'm sure almost all of us have that one corner in the room where all the clothes are stuffed. STOP DOING THAT RIGHT NOW! You don't want to spoil your day every day by looking at that pile. Hang the worn clothes to air dry and get rid of the sweaty smell and them fold them, get a laundry bag if you need one and put all your laundry items in it, FOLDED.

4. DUST IT OUT

Just like making your own bed every morning, make it a habit to broom your room every single day. ( Sad student Life, cannot afford the luxury of having a housemaid to save money). It takes no more than 5 minutes to clean your room unless you have an entire house to your self, even that will not take anything more than 10 to 15 minutes.

5. DEDICATE A SPACE TO EVERYTHING

Make space for all your items and allot everything a place so you'll remember to keep them in their designated space once you've used them. This way your room will be a lot less of a mess and more of a living space.

Do these things, not for somebody else but for yourself and within no time it will become your force of habit. And seeing you do this, no one will be happier than your mother (Also you may use it to defend yourself if needed). Try them out and see the difference by yourself and share it down in the comment section or on the facebook page @theuralway or on my Instagram handle @theuralway.

Until next time,

Love & Hugs.
